In another outreach activity by the NuSTAR Team this Summer, Deputy PI Daniel Stern participated in the Warrior Scholar Project (WSP) at Caltech during the week of July 20th. WSP is a non-profit that helps enlisted veterans and soon-to-be veterans prepare for higher education and adapt to civilian life. The Caltech program this summer included 14 veterans, aged 22 to 44, who are interested in pursuing further education in a STEM field. Stern taught two lectures in Newtonian physics, and the participants lived in Caltech dorms and had an intensive one-week "boot camp" which included lectures, problem sets, lab experiments, and talking with mentors (including Stern) about careers in STEM fields. The NuSTAR team, including staff and postdocs, has been participating in the Caltech WSP since 2021.
